He started at four Olympic Games (in Sochi he was the flag bearer of the Slovak team) and represented Slovakia at seven World Championships (winning 2 silver medals, one of which as a captain). He participated in two World Cups (in one as the captain of the European team he won silver).

The farewell will be at the Pavel Demitra Winter Stadium in Trenčín, where Zdeno took his first steps on skates. Zdeno is inviting mainly foreign players to his farewell, with whom his NHL career is connected. The majority of the players will be from the Boston Bruins, with whom he won the Stanley Cup.
